The oddest things come in over the transom:
Date: Thu, 1 Mar 2007 09:35:54 -0800 (PST)
From: "[NAME REDACTED]"
Subject: Hello **********
To: claremontbuzz@yahoo.com
Your identity is becoming well known in the community, ********. Why not ID yourself before we out you?
We were tempted to run the sender's name and email address, but thought better of it. The name appeared to be a pseudonym, and we wouldn't want some innocent person getting blamed for sending something they didn't.
Still, the note is emblematic of the Preserve Claremont/Claremont 400 way of doing things. It's about who you are, not what you're saying. They never stop to address the issues or to offer counter evidence. Rational thought goes out the window.
And by God, if you fight us, we'll run you into the ground, they say.
There is a dark side to these people. They do good works, but the works are done for the wrong reasons--for status, not charity; to enhance their power, not to help the powerless; out of arrogance instead of with humility.
This culture will end, one way or another. It will collapse from it's own rotting core and from the weight of all the wrongs they have committed and from their refusal to take ownership of their actions. It won't be McHenry or Calaycay or anyone else. It will be their own hatred that does them in.
(BTW, the sender guessed wrong on our group's identities. If some innocent gets run over or beaten, they'll really end up with egg on their face and worse.)
