The Daily Bulletin reported today that President Bush will present 22-year-old Pitzer College student Hannah Locke with President's Volunteer Service Award. Locke has been the volunteer coordinator for the Jumpstart program at Pitzer. Jumpstart began at Yale University 14 year ago and offers college students an opportunity for community service by working in early childhood education.
Bush will present Locke with a lapel pin today in Los Angeles. We were worried that the President might not be make the ceremony after reading in The Onion of a sticky situation that he was having trouble extricating himself from. However, President Bush did make it and will be in Southern California for a short visit.
