Claremont Colleges Unofficial Blog

Speaking of tabloid-style writing, we found a wonderful, semi-gonzo Claremont Colleges blog called Claremont Colleges Off The Record.

The latest post featured this commentary on local politics and the marijuana dispensary issue:

In the most heralded act of government since the USA Patriot Act, the elder statesmen of Claremont have given the people what they want -

fat sacks of weed.

After shooting down previous attempts to supply honest, hard-working college students and retirees with legal bud, the City Council has finally allowed government dope into Claremont. Hopefully in the next few months.

While it's still gonna be easier to just score a bag in Oldenborg, this might make that new Village expansion actually worth going to.

And then there was this commentary about Claremont's recent #5 ranking by Money Magazine as one of the top 5 Best Places to Live:

Forget about the Big Apple and the City by the Bay. Our very own Claremont was recently ranked #5 on Money magazine's list of "America's Best Places to Live."

Obviously, they came to this conclusion by using a complex equation that takes into account the number of overpriced boutiques, places that close by 8 p.m., and people over 75.
