TROLLEY MAIL

We received a few notes in response to yesterday's post about the downtown Claremont "trackless trolley":

Now we hear from the Courier article that the Trolley will cost more, that the money from Sacramento may not be forthcoming and therefore be another unbudgeted item for which the taxpayers will have to pony up the money, and all so certain former and current council members can feel like they are in San Francisco or Portland. Aren’t we supposed to be a sustainable healthy city dedicated to getting people to walk and ride their bikes? Aren’t there other trolleys (like the one in Indio, ironically) that are electric powered and therefore more “sustainable”? Are there any stores in Claremont on the trolley route that people actually have to be deposited on its doorstep before anyone will go there?

There must be better and more meaningful ways in which the Claremont City Council can spend our money ( pick your favorite) and , if not, maybe the State SHOULD take money away from them before they find another hare-brained “cute” folly on which to waste it.

Hi, just curious if you happen to know where the city council plaque will be located on the new trolley? oh, and I heard a rumor that during the october 30 event the light refreshments will not include girl scout cookies. can you confirm?

(if for some reason you put this on your blog, please don't include my name. don't want to be eligible for any retaliation...)

No, dear reader, we cannot confirm the plaque location, but you can count on it being gold-plated and feature the name Judy Wright prominently.
