Interrupted Residential Burglary

On January 20, 2009 at about 11:45 am, a resident in the 700 block of West 10th St. arrived home and discovered that her house had been ransacked. She could not find her 61-year-old husband who was supposed to be home. The Claremont Police Department was called to investigate and responding officers located the husband injured inside in the residence. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and flown to an area trauma center were he is currently being treated; his condition is unavailable.

Preliminary investigation indicates that suspects entered the home to commit a burglary and were confronted by the homeowner. An altercation ensued resulting in the victim being struck in the head by unknown objects. It is unclear if the victim entered the home and surprised the burglars, or if the burglars entered while the resident was already home. It is unknown if any property was taken. The suspects are described as two male blacks, 20-30 years old. No further description is available at this time.

Anyone with information about this crime or the possible suspects is asked to call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
