Claremont Mayor Ellen Taylor and her cookie fit received a mention on California Faultline, a KNBC Channel 4 news blog. The blog is written and edited by writer David Markland and describes itself thusly:
California Faultline is KNBC's blog about local, state, and national politics that impacts residents of the Golden State....
Markland was particularly impressed that Claremont would name Taylor Mayor after her cookie escapade.
Then, there was the letter to the Claremont Courier in Saturday's paper from readers Henry and Janet Pritchard, who thought that Taylor shouldn't stop with fighting Girl Scouts:
We Claremonters who shop at Von’s Baseline are particularly grateful for the actions of our Mayor Pro Tem as we also have a serious Girl Scout problem. We cannot shop there during the Girl Scout cookie season because it is not possible to get in (or out) of the market without getting assaulted by these disarmingly cute but very aggressive, slick, fast-talking 8 to 10-year olds. On many occasions we are “tricked” and “sweet-talked” into purchasing cookies while both entering and exiting the store. We are hoping that maybe Mayor Pro Tem Taylor, with help of Chief Cooper and his men hopefully including the Swat team, might handle this grave situation. Possibly we could even have a city-wide drive to rid our community of these little pests forever. Who knows, after Mayor Pro Tem Taylor deals with the Girl Scouts we may get her to take on the blue birds! If she does, we think she should be our mayor.
Congrats to our new mayor for bringing the city some much-deserved recognition.
