All that Jazz

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, Jazz Fest West is going on today and tomorrow at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas. The festival used to be in Pasadena and is in its second year in San Dimas.

The Daily Bulletin had an article about the festival and interviewed jazz musician Brian Culbertson. The festival starts at 10am today and offers a mix of jazz styles with R&B, funk and Latin soul thrown in.

Saturday, July 17

  • CHARLIE WILSON: the R&B legend closes the show on Saturday, playing songs from his solo career and The Gap Band
  • BRIAN CULBERTSON: the funky keyboardist performs songs from his new CD XII
  • LALAH HATHAWAY & RAHSAAN PATTERSON - Two friends, two incredible vocalists... together in one band
  • ERIC DARIUS: young saxman who will be storming the stage with his funky sounds
  • CHRIS STANDRING and the Blues Bolero Strings: Chris' new project is at the top of the jazz charts
  • STEVE OLIVER: his new release, Global Kiss, features a fusion of world music, jazz and R&B
  • DW3: A high-energy Latin soul & jazz band

  • The Return of RONALD ISLEY: the leader of The Isley Brothers is back, and bringing his funky 10-piece band…. his first LA-area concert in 4 years
  • ANGIE STONE: raised in the Southern gospel tradition, this singer blends neo-soul, jazz and R&B
  • CHRISETTE MICHELE: the Long Island-native comes to LA and performs songs off her breakthrough album, Epiphany
  • DOWN TO THE BONE: DTTB's groove gets harder & juicier with each show... encompassing all that is soulful
  • MARCUS ANDERSON: the multi-talented saxophonist & vocalist recently released his second CD, From The Heart
  • ANTHONY DAVID: the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter from Atlanta debuts at JazzFest West in a "stripped-down" setting
