A Claremont Weekend

There's plenty to do this weekend in Claremont:

The Claremont Folk Festival runs from 9am to 9:30pm with food, workshops, and lots of music. The headliners are Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, and Claremont's own Ben Harper.

The festival is located at Sycamore Elementary School in the Claremont Village. Tickets are $50, and children under 12 are free.

Also today is the Claremont Rotary Club's annual Taste of Claremont. The event is the local Rotary chapter's largest fundraiser, and their website says they anticipate 800-1000 people. You can meet your neighbors and hob nob with some of Claremont's finer people while sampling food, wine, and spirits from different Claremont restaurants and businesses.

The event is at Taylor Hall on Indian Hill Blvd. just north of Claremont High School. It runs from 5pm to 8pm, and tickets are $50 each, and you must be 21 years or older.

The money raised from the event goes to support the following charities: Uncommon Good, Rotary International's PolioPlus, and Uganda Water Project.

And don't forget the weekly Claremont Farmers & Artisans Market on 2nd St. between Indian Hill Blvd. and Yale Ave tomorrow from 8am to 1pm. The first Sunday of each month is a Meet The City Council day at the market, so you can chat up your local councilpeople.
