AFFORDABLE HOUSING MEETING
The Claremont City Council will be holding its first meeting of 2008 tonight in the Padua Room of the Alexander Hughes Community Center. The main piece of business on the agenda is the Base Line Rd. affordable housing project draft Environmental Impact Report. Over the weekend, we covered some things to watch at the meeting.
The council will vote on whether or not to approve the EIR.
The public portion of the meeting begins at 6:30pm. The Base Line Project portion will begin no earlier than 7:00pm.

NEIGHBORHOOD FORUMS
The city is also having a couple upcoming neighborhood forums. This is your chance to get out and speak with your council representatives on a semi-informal basis, depending on the councilmember. (Remember to curtsey or bow to Ellen Taylor, and don't forget to say, "Pleased to meet you Ma'am." Also, only speak to Ellen when you are spoken to.)
Really, though, the forums are good opportunities to let your councilmembers know what's on your mind. No need to be intimidated. They're just regular folks like you and us, putting on their pants one leg at a time.
Just make sure not to confuse the hazardous waste roundup with the neighborhood forums. We know Claremont Council meetings used to have toxic atmospheres, but the environment's much more open now, thanks to all of you readers out there.
The next neighborhood forums are:
- Tuesday, January 15th, 7:00pm
Blaisdell Community Building
