Vote for No More than Two
Sometimes watching the Claremont City Council, its operations and its elections, is more entertaining than sitting down and reading the Sunday funny papers. For awhile, serious people thought there might not even be a race this year, with only two "serious" candidates--Corey Calaycay and Bridget Healy--getting much mention. We won't review the potential candidates; we did that here.
However, when the dust settled, when the filing deadline of 5:00 p.m. yesterday passed, there were three candidates standing: Calaycay, Healy, and dark horse Larry Schroeder.
So, friends, we are going to have an election in Claremont on March 3rd, 2009.
Since races in Claremont are almost never about issues, and more about who you know, and who thinks your're pretty, here are the three candidates--cartoonized--along with those who signed their nominating papers (note: we take the candidates alphabetically so as not to show any favoritsm. The order would be the same even if we used "Carpetbagger" instead of "Bridget Healy"):
